BMAC announces four calls for submissions

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center is accepting submissions for four different projects from creative people of all ages, according to a news release.

More information and guidelines on each project are available at www.brattleboromuseum.org.

• Open Call NXNE 2017 is the latest iteration of BMAC's annual juried exhibit. It is open to photographers and video artists living or working in New York or any of the six New England states.

Submissions are due Nov. 14 and will be reviewed by juror Bernard Yenelouis of L. Parker Stephenson Photographs in New York City. Works selected by Yenelouis will be exhibited at BMAC from Jan. 14 to March 5, 2017.

• BMAC invites Lego enthusiasts of all ages to submit original sculptures for its ninth annual Lego Contest & Exhibit. Submissions are due Nov. 16.

An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held Friday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m., and the exhibit will remain on view through Sunday, Nov. 20. Prizes for creativity and craftsmanship will be awarded in seven age groups, ranging from preschool to adult.

• As the statewide affiliate for the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, BMAC invites up-and-coming Vermont artists and writers in grades 7-12 to submit work for possible exhibition, publication, and scholarship opportunities.

Submissions are due Dec. 15 and will be judged by local experts in the fields of art and writing. Award-winning work will be exhibited at BMAC from Feb. 18 to March 5, 2017.

• Reprising one of its most popular programs ever, BMAC invites children in grades K-6 to dream up and draw imaginary creatures, a selection of which will be transformed into glass sculptures by artists from throughout New England.

“Glasstastic,” an exhibit featuring the glass sculptures and every drawing that is submitted, will be on view at BMAC from March 18 to June 18, 2017. Submissions are due Dec. 30.
