BRATTLEBORO — Retreat Farm, 350 Linden St., will host the nonprofit Farm to Ballet Project for the second straight year.
The Farm to Ballet Project is a dance collaborative designed to celebrate the unique culture of New England farms while introducing new audiences to the beauty of classical ballet.
Set to Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, the Farm to Ballet dancers will present the story of life on a farm from the first planting to the harvest.
The gate will open on Saturday, Aug. 12, at 4:30 p.m., for tours of the Children's Farm and Forest, picnicking on Farmhouse square and musical entertainment.
The show will start at 6 p.m. This event will be held outdoors at the Retreat Farm's new Farmhouse Square and will feature live music played by a string sextet.
Spots and Socks, two of the Retreat Farm's kid goats, will be among the performers in this whimsical celebration of arts and agriculture in southern Vermont.
Ticket are $15, with children under 12 admitted free. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Retreat Farm's Children's Shop (open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or at Windham Movement Apparel, 5 Arch St, in Brattleboro.
Retreat Farm Members receive a 10 percent discount on ticket, merchandise, and food truck purchases. Tickets must be purchased at the Children's Shop to receive your discount.
Audience members should bring their own picnic blankets or chairs. If it rains, the show will need to be cancelled. Audience members can either choose to give their donation to the the farm, get a reimbursement, or exchange their tickets for a different show.
The event proceeds benefit the Retreat Farm's Children's Farm & Forest and Farm to Ballet Project.
