Butterfly Swing Band returns to Main Street Arts

SAXTONS RIVER — The Butterfly Swing Band, featuring Jack Keil on vocals, makes a return visit to Saxtons River Saturday, May 9, at 7 p.m.

The band will play music of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s at the newly renovated Main Street Arts building. Tables will be set up cabaret style so there will be plenty of room on the dance floor.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at MSA, on line at www.mainstreetarts.org, or at the door.

Band member and percussionist Joe LoMonaco promises an evening “that will be sure to put spring in your spring.” He describes the band's sound as “fun, danceable, joyous music with a classic swing groove....including music by Ellington, Basie, Cole Porter, and Benny Goodman.

Westminster West resident Keil appears infrequently with the band to scat his favorites, among them “Bill Bailey.” A video of Keil's performance at Main Street Arts is online at www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjqwsBVK850.

Other members of the band are Scott Sizer on trumpet, harmonica, and vocals; Mark Anagnostopulos, guitar and vocals; Walter Slowinski, clarinet and sax; and Lynn Lovell bass.
