BRATTLEBORO-The Vermont Center for Photography (VCP) is pleased to welcome Maine-based photographer Dylan Hausthor for a free artist talk Saturday, March 22, at 5 p.m. at VCP, located at 10 Green St.
Hausthor will discuss their new book, What The Rain Might Bring (TBW Books), and copies will be available for signing and purchase at the event.
Hausthor's work "blurs the line between fact and fable, exploring the tension between the seen and unseen through photography, video, and installation," wrote event promoters in a news release. The images "weave narratives of innocence and cunning, spectacle and mystery, prompting viewers to embrace uncertainty and consider storytelling beyond traditional notions of validity."
Hausthor likens photography's ability to promote belief to that of faith. "I hope for these images to act as tarot cards, and the viewers exist as the medium between fiction and reality," he said.
Hausthor is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including a 2024 John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, and they have exhibited work both nationally and internationally. Their career has been distinguished by fellowships, residencies, and accolades from organizations such as Light Work, the Penumbra Foundation, and the Ellis-Beauregard Foundation.
In addition to their artistic practice, Hausthor teaches workshops in ghost hunting, ritual, photography, and mushroom foraging, "reflecting their deep connection to storytelling and the natural world," said organizers.
VCP invites photographers, artists, and the public to join this engaging conversation with Hausthor and explore the intersections of myth, memory, and image-making. For more information, visit vcphoto.org or contact [email protected].
