Speed Dating will perform with the Hot Mess Spirit Express

BELLOWS FALLS-While the first documented speed dating event occurred in the 1990s, it fell out of popularity during the Covid pandemic and increased in 2023 when dating apps began to lose their appeal.

So say the women of The Hot Mess Spirit Express of Keene, New Hampshire, who will offer their own spin on the process. On Saturday, Jan. 25, from 7 to 10 p.m., Speed Dating with Psychic Mediums will occur at the Bellows Falls Moose Lodge, 59 Westminster St.

Psychics Jessica Smith and Monali King, joining the rotation of daters, will offer a reading to everyone who participates, while the rest of the Lodge carries on with typical speed dating. Lacie Berardi will facilitate the evening so that all participants have a chance to meet one another and receive a reading.

"Today's idea of Speed Dating is less about needing to find a romantic partner in one night and more about a fun way to show up as your authentic self in order to meet people and develop new friendships," organizers said in a news release. "In small towns, it's a way for newcomers to introduce themselves in manageable 7-minute interactions with others, thereby lessening the pressure of expectation and enjoying the potential for making new connections."

Pre-registration is requested at thehotmessspiritexpress.com. The cost per person for the entire evening is $30. Tickets will be available at the door; cash and credit cards accepted. More information is available at facebook.com/thehotmessspiritexpress or email [email protected].

The Lodge offers a full cash bar, music will be provided, and the Women of the Moose will prepare snacks for purchase. Parking is readily available and the building is handicapped accessible.
