Joe Boris, Jesse Lepkoff perform a night of original music in Marlboro

MARLBORO-On Saturday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Thrush Hill Outdoor Stage, 314 Upper Houghton Rd., a pair of singer-songwriters - Vermont Blues Society Contest winner Jesse Lepkoff and guest musician Joe Boris - will team up for a night of original music.

Boris has been part of the East Coast music scene since the early 1990s, performing alongside other New York/New Jersey musicians such as Clarence Clemons (Bruce Springsteen), Michael Falzarano (Hot Tuna), and Garth Hudson (the Band). He later performed and wrote over 50 songs for the band One-Eyed Jack. Boris's songs and performance for the band were described by Hittin' The Note magazine as "the real deal."

Boris's dynamic sound and stage presence propelled One-Eyed Jack as one of the East Coast's premier jam bands (featured in Dean Budnick's Guide to Jambands). According to Relix magazine, he not only provides uplifting guitar solos heavily influenced by the psychedelic sound and style of Santana, the Grateful Dead, and Allman Brothers, but also "Dylanesque" songwriting with heartfelt, soulful lyrics.

He has shared billing with such acts as Bob Weir & Ratdog, Warren Haynes, Mickey Hart, and Hot Tuna. More about on Boris's music can be found at j-boris.com.

Lepkoff will open for Boris with what organizers call "his rollicking and earthy brand of 1930s-style original acoustic blues and ragtime." Learn more about his music at jesselepkoff.com.

Upper Houghton Road is only accessible from Ames Hill Road. There is a $15 suggested donation. Rain date for the show is Sunday, Aug. 25, at 6:30 p.m. Call 802-579-5943 for more information.
