Dog licensing for 2025 begins now
BRATTLEBORO - It is time to license dogs again per Vermont law. All that is needed is a current rabies certificate issued and signed by a veterinarian. Vaccination against rabies is required by Vermont Statutes before licensing.
Effective Jan. 1, dog licensing fees were increased statewide by $2 per dog. This money will go directly to the state to fund an animal welfare program.
If an animal has been spayed or neutered, documentation from a veterinarian must be presented to receive a reduced-fee license - this information may be on the rabies certificate. Dog owners should contact their town clerk for further information. Late fees will apply after April 1, 2025.

'Die-a-logue' discusses death, dying, and end-of-life issues
BRATTLEBORO - "Death-Over-Drinks: a Die-A-Logue" is a free community event where all are welcome to talk about death, dying, and end-of-life issues. It takes place on Sunday, Jan. 12, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Heart Rose Club, 11 Green St.
"As a society, we're kinda rusty talking about the thing we all have in common (we all will die someday) and often don't know where to go or who is willing to explore topics related to death and dying with us," organizers wrote in a news release. "It's for that reason the Pre-Dead Social Club exists and created opportunities like Death-Over-Drinks so we can take strides at practicing, normalizing and exploring together. And the good news: No experience necessary!"
