Brattleboro Area Hospice to hold Lantern Walk
BRATTLEBORO - Brattleboro Area Hospice will hold its second annual Lantern Walk on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
"A fall Lantern Walk is a traditional autumn celebration to bring light into the darkness as the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer," organizers said in a news release. "It reminds us that we are each the light in the darkness and is also a time to remember, and carry, the light of those who have died."
This year, the walk will start and end on the Common on Park Place, where participants will gather at 5 p.m. and begin the walk at 5:30 p.m.
Lanterns will be provided if needed. It will be dark by 5:30 p.m., so a flashlight is recommended.
Participants will walk down Main Street to Elliot Street, then return to the Common for a short remembrance service.

Auditions to be held for 'Jesus Wept'
BRATTLEBORO - Jesus Wept, a play by Brattleboro-based author and playwright Stephen Wangh, "imagines Mary and God responding to prayerful supplications from humans confronting challenging situations," as described in a news release from Centre Congregational Church, which will stage the production in February.
"When Jesus arrives, God and Mary fear he may not be able to handle difficult human suffering. Sacred and profane disagreements among the divinities culminate in a musical epiphany," organizers continued.
Auditions are planned for Saturday, Nov. 16, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., at the church, at 193 Main St.
Rehearsals will begin in early February. Supporting roles will be called for shorter hours.
Performances are scheduled for Feb. 19, 20, and 21, at 7 p.m., and Feb. 22, at 5 and 7:30 p.m.
If you are interested in auditioning, prepare a one-minute monologue and email Lesley at [email protected] to reserve a place. Be sure to include your phone number.
