PUTNEY-Despite meager compensation, Rep. Mike Mrowicki has consistently supported people in Putney, Dummerston, and beyond, whether or not the Legislature is in session.
A true advocate, he helps constituents navigate complex systems and cut through red tape, embodying the spirit of a social worker rather than just a politician. He is the guy who shows up right after a severe flood to support you. If I had a dollar for every time someone told me Mike was there for them, I could substantially donate to one of the many social services I try to support.
That is because Mike isn't just a representative; he's a natural social worker. He represents the best intentions for the voices of those he serves because social workers naturally play a vital role in helping individuals, families, and communities overcome life's toughest challenges.
Mike has been instrumental in passing legislation on a wide range of issues, from common-sense firearms safety reform to climate action. His roles in establishing the State Youth Council and in co-sponsoring the CROWN Act, which protects people of color from hair-based discrimination, are testaments to his commitment to listening and acting on behalf of the community.
Mike advocates for fair-share tax reform, pushing for progressive taxation and demanding that those who can contribute more do so, particularly regarding property taxes. His belief in considering the ability to pay when creating tax policy, especially for the extremely wealthy and those on fixed incomes, ensures a fair and just financial system for all, providing a sense of security and support for our community.
He has dedicated himself to promoting justice for all in Vermont, from advocating for reproductive rights to championing environmental, economic, and social injustices. He has worked tirelessly to make Vermont more inclusive for all its residents. His values, demonstrated through his dedication to coaching youth sports and 23 years volunteering at the local food shelf, help guide his work in Montpelier.
His commitment to community connection fosters a sense of belonging and unity, reminding us we are all a part of something bigger. We could not ask for a more capable, caring leader.
