Entries now being accepted for this year’s ‘Poems Around Town’

BRATTLEBORO-It's time for submissions for the 2025 edition of Poems Around Town, a Write Action–sponsored event that celebrates National Poetry Month. This event features poems, written by local poets primarily, as well as those in the tri-state area and throughout Vermont.

"Poems chosen will go into downtown business windows for the month of April, and sometimes longer, (depending on the interest of the business where the poem is posted)," wrote organizers in a news release. "This gives locals and visitors alike an extra uplift to their downtown trip. A flyer listing each business with the associated poet's name and poem title is distributed throughout the month of April."

Poems submitted should fit on one page and poets should use 14-point or larger type, and use an easily readable font (such as Times New Roman, Cambria, or Helvetica).

There is a maximum of two poems per submission. Each poem should include the author's name and town of residence at the end of the poem or, if there is not room, in a cover letter.

Organizers say they prefer poems written within the past year, and submissions may include previously published work. Acknowledgment of the publication should be noted at bottom of the poem itself, or in a cover letter.

Poems should be emailed as attachments by Monday, Feb. 24, to [email protected], with "PAT" and the title or first line of one of the poems on the email subject line.
