Time to sign up to get your windows measured for insulating inserts

BELLOWS FALLS-The Rockingham Energy Committee offers assistance for greater comfort and fuel savings for owners of homes that get drafty and cold in winter.

They will once again host assembly of low-cost insulating window inserts at an all-volunteer community workshop for local residents through the Window Dressers program, run by a nonprofit in Maine.

The workshop will be held from Oct. 11–16 at the St. Charles Social Hall, 25 Cherry Hill St., the same site used in past years. Everyone receiving inserts is expected to volunteer for one or more building sessions; participants choose which task(s) they want to do, and training is provided. Community members who do not need inserts are also encouraged to help at the workshops.

Those interested can contact Peter Bergstrom at 802-444-1860 or [email protected] to set up a measuring visit. Two volunteers will visit the home to measure window frames with a laser to custom fit inserts.

All measuring must be done by Sept. 9. Typical window inserts cost $50–$60 each, but special pricing is available for residents with low incomes. For more information about the organization, see windowdressers.org/insulating-inserts, with more details specific to Vermont programs available at windowdressers.org/vermont-community-builds/
