BRATTLEBORO — Triad, a joint exhibit by three artists, will be on display at Gallery in the Woods, 145 Main St., for the month of July, with an opening reception on Friday, July 1, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Deborah Garner, Alicia Hunsicker, and Karen Loomis are close friends and creative collaborators who have worked in tandem for decades, organizers say. They draw inspiration from the natural world “to create distinctive visionary reflections of the macro and micro in oil, acrylic, alcohol ink and other media.”
Garner's artistic process is about letting go. A news release reports “her spontaneous interaction with the materials is an organic flow which she allows to happen rather than following a preconceived end result. Her work expresses a sense of freedom and loose gestures that appear in motion.”
Hunsicker's art fuses her interests in science, consciousness, and spirituality. In an artist's statement, she says she “sees repeating patterns in nature as the framework of a divine connective language” and often references particles in her paintings to express something common “from the minuscule world deep within atoms to the vastness of the universe.”
Loomis creates work that “reveres the beauty in broken or damaged objects by emphasizing the transformation that occurs in repair.” Her sculptural pieces “express love expended on mending and value in what is imperfect. Her paintings in this body of work investigate cellular, dendritic, and crystalline patterns that occur in nature.”
