GUILFORD-Stories, music, and desserts return to Guilford as the program, "Back Roads Stories," welcomes in spring at the Broad Brook Community Center (BBCC), 3940 Guilford Center Road, on Sunday, March 30, from 2 to 4 p.m.
BBCC Manager and Program Coordinator Ada Brown described the program in a news release as "a celebration of the art of storytelling" and "an opportunity to connect with our neighbors in a deep and meaningful way."
"Back Roads Stories" will be emceed by Don McLean and will include storytellers Dennis Waring, Dot MacDonald, and Mary Wallace Collins. Music will be performed by the Green Mountain Strummers, a ukulele group that entertains around the region and has been a part of past programs.
Musicians include Susan Rosano, Deborah Noe, Dennis Waring, Karen Shapiro, and Cal Heile. The afternoon concludes with a feast of locally made desserts and an opportunity to meet with the storytellers, musicians, and neighbors.
"We believe that these stories - told with humor, creativity and heart - can inspire, uplift, and foster a sense of shared experience in our community," Brown said. "'Back Roads Stories' is part of a fast-growing menu of events at the BBCC and we're looking forward to presenting it again."
