North-South football game this weekend
• The Vermont high school football season wraps up on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., when the annual North-South Senior All-Star Football Game is played at Castleton University's Dave Wolk Stadium.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students, with all proceeds earmarked for the scholarship and grant programs of the Vermont Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
The North leads the series, 11-7, including a 56-35 win in last season's game. All of Vermont's 31 football schools from all three divisions are represented on the rosters for this game. The North-South game is often seen as an audition for the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, which will again be played at Castleton next August.
The two teams that played for the Division II championship will be well represented on the South team in this game.
The champs, the Brattleboro Colonels, will send quarterback Tyler Millerick, running back Chris Frost, and lineman Jem Cohen, while runner-up Bellows Falls will send quarterback Griffin Waryas, tight end Dylan Clark, running back McGregor Vancor and lineman Hunter Smith.
Brattleboro head coach Chad Pacheco will coach the South squad. Also on the South's coaching staff are Bellows Falls assistant coach Frank Brown and Brattleboro assistant coaches Mike Empey and Tanner Loupa.

Girls on the Run Vermont seeks coaches
• Girls on the Run Vermont's spring coach registration is now open. Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls in grades 3-8 designed to enhance their social, psychological, and physical skills and behaviors to successfully navigate life experiences.
The 10-week program incorporates running to teach critical life skills, encourage personal development and foster team building and community service. Volunteer coaches utilize a curriculum to engage teams of girls in fun, interactive lessons. Teams meet twice a week for 90 minutes and the program culminates with all teams participating in a celebratory 5K run/walk event.
Coaches do not need to be runners but are required to be a minimum of 18-years-old to serve as an assistant or 21 to serve as a head coach. Junior coaches are also encouraged to apply. All volunteer coaches must complete a background check and attend a training session. For more information, visit www.gotrvt.org/coach.
