BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Winter Farmers Market opens its 14th season on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the C.F. Church Building at 80 Flat St. in downtown Brattleboro.
After the last outdoor market in October, fans of the famous summer farmers market in West Brattleboro can follow many of their favorite vendors indoors to the only weekly farmers market in the region.
The Brattleboro Winter Farmers Market will be open every Saturday, 10 a.m to 2 p.m., through March 28, 2020.
Visitors will find plenty of farms and local produce, and the market's new location at the Church Building provides convenient parking and a spacious market.
Most weeks, market visitors will find more than two dozen vendors, including many favorites from past seasons.
According to the Farmers Market Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening farmers markets across the country, the impact of direct farmer-to-consumer transactions at a market is greater than it might appear on the surface.
Markets serve as community anchors, positively influencing community health and wealth, resulting in more viable regional economies, increased access to fresh, nutritious food, and stronger social networks that help keep communities healthy.
At the local level, shopping at the Brattleboro Winter Farmers' Market contributes to preserving rural livelihoods and helps to keep well over 350 acres in diversified production.
Market vendors provide fresh local produce, maple syrup, meats, eggs, cheese, and many other farm products. Shoppers will also find fresh bread, great lunches, delicious pies and preserves, beautiful handmade gifts, and live local music.
The Winter Farmers' Market welcomes debit, credit, and EBT (3SquaresVT) cards. EBT customers can turn $10 into $20 each week with Crop Cash Coupons.
