Finance director to step down in January

BRATTLEBORO-Kimberly Frost, the town's finance director since 2022, will be stepping down on Jan. 3.

The announcement was made on brattleboro.gov on Dec. 10. According to a news release, Frost is leaving "to pursue a different opportunity."

"Starting this next chapter was a difficult decision, but I'm grateful to have served my community," said Frost.

According to the news release, Frost "was instrumental in reuniting the Finance Department with the Treasurer's Office and thereby finding efficiencies to reduce town staff by one position."

She also supported town departments in the transition to a new financial system "to modernize and enhance the efficiency and transparency of the town's finances, including an online publication that provides detailed expenditure information in an interactive format."

Town Manager John Potter said that he is most grateful for Frost's "support of and active participation on the town's management team, helping everyone do better."

With budget season underway, Potter said that the town intends to stick to the schedule that the Selectboard has requested and deliver a budget in January.

"The budget process is collaborative, and town staff are working hard to find savings that can be made without causing harsh reductions in the level of town services that people rely on," Potter said.

The town will be accepting applications for the position until it is filled. An initial round of screening interviews is planned for the week of Jan. 6. Those interested in applying may do so at brattleboro.gov/Jobs.
