BMAC offers studio tour of glass artist and painter Jen Violette

BRATTLEBORO — On Sunday, June 2, from 2 to 4 p.m., the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center will offer a guided tour of the studio of glass artist and painter Jen Violette in Wilmington - the latest installment in BMAC's “Hidden in the Hills” series.

The tour is free, but open to BMAC members only. To become a member, visit www.brattleboromuseum.org or call 802-257-0124, ext. 101.

Violette has won numerous awards for her glass and exhibits, and her unique mixed-media sculptures are in many fine art galleries nationwide. She creates glass sculptures of garden vignettes, rural landscapes, fruits, and vegetables, as well as whimsical, jewel-toned blown glass pieces and expressive acrylic paintings inspired by the Vermont countryside, according to a news release.

She holds a B.F.A. with honors from Alfred University and has studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, Pilchuck Glass School, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, The Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass, and Penland School of Crafts.

The opportunity to attend “Hidden in the Hills” events is one of the many benefits of being a BMAC member. Others include free admission to the Museum, invitations to openings and special events, and a discount in the Museum's gift shop.

Through June 22, BMAC is offering an additional incentive to join: All new members will be automatically entered in a raffle drawing to win an original Wolf Kahn pastel painting, “Orange, Yellow, Green, and Blue,” valued at $10,000. For more information, call 802-257-0124.
