Spring finally arrives; more sun than showers expected

Good day to you, fine people of southeastern Vermont! We have finally turned the corner in terms of spring temperatures, which is most welcome.

Could we dip here and there? Yes, we could, but generally speaking, I believe we're leaving behind the dominance of cooler high temps (i.e., highs in the 40s and 50s) that characterized much of April into the first half of May.

For Wednesday and Thursday, we should enjoy high pressure with sunshine and seasonably mild temperatures. Some scattered showers move back in for Thursday afternoon into early Friday morning.

Brief high pressure then dries us out for Friday night through Saturday before Saturday night showers re-enter the region and leave us with a fair and increasingly sunny second half of the Memorial Day Weekend, which hopefully lasts into Tuesday.

That's the weekly snapshot, so let's now dive into the details!

For Wednesday, high pressure builds into the region which will provide us with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 60s with a light north wind. Lows will dip into the upper 40s. A sweet 24 hours this will be!

For Thursday, high pressure will be departing to our east, so some clouds will be building in from the west and northwest as the day wears on.

Expect partly sunny skies early, with clouds building during the afternoon. Highs should crest into the upper 60s. Scattered showers will be possible by mid to late afternoon and should be with us overnight on Thursday, when lows are expected to dip into the low to mid 50s.

For Friday, we start off with morning showers, but should dry out to a mostly cloudy day with a few sunny breaks possible. Highs will reach the mid 60s with lows in the upper 40s under mostly cloudy skies.

Any sunny breaks early look to disappear on Saturday morning as another shortwave dives southeast and brings more showers to southern Vermont for Saturday and Saturday night. Highs will be near 70 degrees, with lows near 50 degrees.

Sunday and Memorial Day look partly to mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 70s as high pressure works back into the region, with the hope that our fair weather extends into next Tuesday.

This is a clear improvement in weather conditions compared to the previous six weeks, so I hope you enjoy it! Have a great week!
