Hello and good day to you, residents of the wonderfully beautiful Windham County! I spent some time this past weekend up near Crane Mountain in Townshend. What glorious terrain and what a time it was, with some sweet sunshine!
Indeed, while we had some sweet, sunny, dry days last week, we're starting off on the wet side for our current 7-day stretch. But lament not, my friends! We will still get some sunshine into the southern Vermont region, especially on Friday and much of Saturday, and hopefully for early next week, too.
We do, however, have more sky fields of rain drops to dodge, which will be especially true on Wednesday evening, Thursday evening and Sunday as well. Temperatures will be rather seasonable, and humidity will be kept in check.
With those broad brushstrokes lightly describing our week ahead, let's jump into the daily details!
For Wednesday, we'll be between low pressure systems, and should start off the day with mostly cloudy skies. We may even see some partly sunny conditions for a time around mid-day, but that won't last long.
Clouds will rebuild into the region, and scattered showers will move through Wednesday late afternoon and last into the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning.
Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s in eastern Windham County with low 60s in the high terrain of the west. Lows will dip into the low 50s.
For Thursday, expect mostly cloudy skies thanks to a warm front that will be lifting north through the region. This should allow highs to float up into the upper 60s to low 70s as we enter the warm sector, with a few showers possible.
As the afternoon wears on, a cold front will be pushing east towards Windham County and will combine with warm sector instability to produce showers, downpours, and thunderstorms. Severe weather is not expected, but some isolated street flooding is possible. Lows will bottom out in the low to mid 50s.
For Friday, west to northwest winds will gust to 25 mph or so, especially in the high terrain, as drier air and higher pressure works into the region. Expect mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 60s, with lows in the mid 40s.
For Saturday, another beautiful day is on the way with mostly sunny skies and light wind as high pressure crests overhead and passes to our east. Highs will reach the upper 60s to low 70s with lows in the low to mid 50s with clouds increasing at night.
Sunday through Tuesday will start off with showers on Sunday as a system works through the region with highs either side of 70 degrees and lows either side of 50 degrees.
Early next week looks generally fair with breezy northwest winds and highs in the 60s as cooler air settles in with a chance of a late day shower each day. Have a great week!
