BMC Summer Salons offer insightful conversations about music

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Music Center offers a series of informative, inspiring conversations about music.

The BMC Summer Salon series, led by violinist Moby Pearson, kicks off Thursday, July 5, with an exploration of the keyboard in chamber music, from baroque trio sonatas to 20th century works and everything in between - including pieces for glass harmonica and harmonium.

Host Moby Pearson, a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory, has performed with chamber ensembles and orchestras for more than 45 years. He has toured the great concert halls in Europe with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and coached student ensembles in the Middle East as a member of the Apple Hill Chamber Players.

A teacher, ensemble coach, and Senior Orchestra conductor at the BMC, Pearson invites Salon-goers into his home to listen to a vast swath of musical treats and perhaps pick up a few new musical perspectives along the way.

Summer Salons are held Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. and include refreshments. The cost is $25 per session, or $100 when registering in advance for all five sessions. Call the BMC at 802-257-4523 for locations and more information.
