Spring Book Sale kicks off May 31 at Brooks Memorial Library

BRATTLEBORO — The Friends of Brooks Memorial Library will hold its spring/summer Book Sale from May 31 to June 2, the weekend of the Strolling of the Heifers.

On Thursday and Friday, the sale will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; on Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Please note the early opening on Saturday. This allows patrons time to browse and buy before they settle in to their preferred spot to watch the parade. (The Friends can hold purchased books while patrons watch the parade.) The parade usually passes by the library between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Titles will cover a wide range of subjects, both fiction and nonfiction. This year there will also be a large selection of classical music CD's, opera CD's, audio books, and books on the subject of film.

The books have been donated to the Library by community members and then sorted for quality and by subject matter by library volunteers. Prices range from 50 cents to $2, with special interest and coffee table books priced higher.

The Friends are also holding a drawing for a Little Free Library, donated to the Friends by the Brattleboro Rotary Club. Raffle tickets are on sale for $5 each and may be purchased at the Main Desk at Brooks Memorial Library. The drawing will be June 2, the last day of the book sale.

The winner will have the option of filling their library with a selection of books chosen from the sale.

Proceeds from the book sale help the Friends purchase materials, present programs, and provide services to enhance the mission of Brooks Memorial Library.
