NEWFANE — With Newfane's current Town Plan set to expire this year, the Planning Commissioners are working on a new draft to submit to the Selectboard for their approval.
At the April 2 regular Selectboard meeting, Planning Commissioner Lynn Forrest gave Board members an update on their progress on the document.
She also sought, and received, the Board's support for the Commission's work plan, which includes scheduling public hearings on the draft Town Plan.
The Planning Commissioners will mail copies of the updated draft Town Plan to interested parties on April 30, Forrest said. They will hold two warned public hearings, one on May 15 and another on May 30.
Then, she said, the commissioners will submit the document to the Selectboard and the Board will conduct their own warned hearing on the Town Plan in July, and possibly adopt it on the same day.
Forrest noted the 2018 draft Town Plan won't change too much from the 2013 Town Plan, which is the most current version. Most changes are state-mandated updates, with a few other alterations to reflect work the town has done since the last Town Plan was published.
The Planning Commission received guidance from Windham Regional Commission Senior Planner John Bennett and from Piet Van Loon, Newfane's representative to WRC, Forrest said.
