BRATTLEBORO — Town Clerk Hilary Francis says petitions for Brattleboro Town and Town School District Officers and Town Meeting Members are now available.
Town elections will be Tuesday, March 6, and the Annual Representative Town Meeting is Saturday, March 24.
Petitions for Town Officers must contain at least 30 valid signatures of registered Brattleboro voters and be filed in the Town Clerk's office no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, in order to have their names placed on the ballot.
Candidates for Town Meeting Member must file a nomination petition with at least 10 valid signatures of voters from the district where the candidate lives. Petitions of new candidates must be filed no later than 5 p.m. on Jan. 29 (same date as Town Officer petitions).
Incumbents for Town Meeting Member must return their Notice of Intent form no later than 5 p.m. on Jan. 29.
Officers to be elected on March 6 include seats held by three members of the Selectboard: a three-year seat currently held by John Allen, and two one-year seats currently held by Brandie Starr and Tim Wessel.
Also on the ballot are one-year seats for Moderator (held by Lawrin Crispe), First and Second Constable (held by Richard H. Cooke and David J. Emery Sr., respectively), and town School Director (Spoon Agave and Robin Morgan).
Three-year seats for Lister (held by Katherine Dowd), Trustee of Public Funds (held by Deborah Zak), town School Director (held by Kimberly Price), and Brattleboro Union High School Directors (held by Ricky Davidson and Katey Everest) will also be on the ballot.
The deadline for petitions to request an article be placed on the Representative Town Meeting warrant is Thursday, Jan. 18, at 5 p.m., while the town meeting warrant must be posted by Feb. 4.
The annual BUHS District Meeting is Feb. 13, and early ballots for municipal voting will be available Feb. 14.
