WILLIAMSVILLE — The Manitou Project continues its tradition of celebrating the change of season with music and dance in its beautiful woods. The Project invites the public to celebrate the fall equinox on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 3 to 5 p.m., with sacred circle dancing and a healing concert with Vibrant Ensemble.
At 3 p.m., a brief stroll leads participants from the parking area to the circle of pines, long a place of shared circle dance called Paneurhythmy. Fall Equinox marks the end of Paneurhythmy's honoring the sun for half the year, making this is a good time to feel the power of these simple movements, from “Awakening” to “Flying” and “Breathing,” then the final “Blessing."
By 4 p.m., the healing concert begins with a few minutes' walk to the forest glen and outdoor concert space - giving rise to healing for all living beings, especially the trees, creatures, and people present, accentuated by moments of full throated birdsong.
Vibrant Ensemble is Stephan Brandstatter and Dennis Waring, who provide evocative soundscapes with gongs, chimes, bells, percussion, and wind instruments. They perform improvised soundscapes that reflect nature's serenity, inspired by the music of Asia and the Middle East, the pulsing rhythms of Africa, and the spirit of Latin America.
Tax-deductible contributions will be gratefully accepted to help support the artists. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for hiking and dancing.
