Good day to you! After several weeks of showery and thundery weather, we will have a bit of break from all that rainy action over the next seven days. We certainly won't be dry the whole time, but the chances for severe weather will be drastically reduced.
In my mind, the only real chance that I can see for severe thunderstorms right now is on Friday, and I would say it's a low chance at that.
Instead, we've got plenty of drier conditions and more in the way of fair weather to look forward to, so let's jump into the details!

For during the day and into the night on Wednesday and the first half of Thursday, we will be enjoying calm weather conditions, with comfortable levels of humidity. High pressure will be slowly meandering through the region, generally traveling west to east as it does so. This will create mostly sunny skies during Wednesday with highs in the mid 70s, and lows in the mid 50s under mostly clear skies. You can knock off 5 degrees from any of these temperature readings if you're up in the mountainous terrain of Windham County.
For Thursday, we will start off mostly sunny with comfortable humidity, but this will be our transition day to more humid and showery weather into the first part of the weekend.
By late this week, a large trough will moving south from Canada and is expected to meet up with surface low pressure moving east into the Ohio Valley. As a bit of background and weather education, when I used the term “trough,” I am referring to a region aloft of lower-than-normal pressures based on a fixed elevation as a reference point - say, 10,000 feet up, for example.
These two features, combined with high pressure moving off out our east, will create a southwesterly and more moist flow into the region, along with encouraging rising air over southern Vermont. This should allow for some scattered showers to break out Thursday night in our region, and a better chance for showers and thunderstorms Friday and Friday night ahead of a cold front that moves through by Saturday.
Highs from Thursday through the weekend will generally be in the low to mid 70s, with lows in the low 60s Thursday and Friday night. Thereafter, lows should drop into the mid 50s Saturday and Sunday night.
Saturday will start off with some showers, with increasing sunshine during the second half of the day. Thereafter, Sunday and Monday look sunny and lovely, with drying conditions and calm weather. Some showers are possible into early next week, but much uncertainty exists still seven days out.
