BRATTLEBORO — Oak Meadow will hold information sessions about its downtown collaborative-learning center for high school students, Brattleboro School Without Walls, the first Wednesday of every month. The sessions will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Oak Meadow, 132 Main St. (in the Brooks House), and will be led by learning center Director Jessica Turner.
According to a news release, School Without Walls provides a high-quality, low-cost, hybrid learning environment for students. Students spend three days a week taking Oak Meadow courses at the center, and the other two earning high school credit through participation in arts, performance, outdoors programs, internships, and life-experience opportunities in and around Brattleboro.
The program offers a rigorous high school curriculum, a small, close-knit community, one-to-one teacher support, study spaces, wi-fi, and kitchen facilities.
“[Brattleboro Schools Without Walls] has been a perfect happy medium for our son because there is enough structure to flow with or push against, and also huge amounts of freedom for self-determination,” parent Thea Elijah said.
