BRATTLEBORO — For the fifth year, Windham County photographers will take part in Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walk Day. This year's walk is on Saturday, Oct. 1, starting at 9 a.m. on Flat Street in the Preston Lot next to the Dunklee machine shop.
Tom Singleton will lead the walk through downtown Brattleboro. All that is needed is a camera and the desire to take photos in Brattleboro, according to a news release.
Participants may shoot panoramas, high-dynamic-range images, black-and-white photos, or apply digital effects such as creating collages or retro-filters from Instagram. Competition isn't required of walk participants.
The free walk is open to all ages and abilities, and is a social photography event where photographers get together, “to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers,” according to the news release.
The walk ends at 11:30 a.m. Participants are invited to join Singleton for lunch at 12:15 p.m. at the Whetstone Brewery to share stories and images.
Kelby and organizers have established photo walks around the world. In 2012, 28,000 people participated in more than 1,000 photo walks. Walks are limited to 50 photographers. Dress for the elements and wear comfortable shoes. Participants will be guided to a website where they can upload image files to enter Kelby's annual photo contest.
