Stone Church Arts presents Trash to Tunes, a concert featuring ethnomusicologist Dennis Waring

BELLOWS FALLS — Stone Church Arts will present a concert performance called Trash To Tunes on Friday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m., in the Chapel at Immanuel Episcopal Church, the stone church on the hill, at 20 Church St.

Dr. Dennis Waring uses handmade and homemade musical instruments inspired by instruments from around the world. Interesting sights, sounds, and stories about the instruments give audiences new insight into folklore, music, craft, science, and world perspectives, according to a news release.

Waring has presented Trash To Tunes in hundreds of schools and community centers. His video production of the show has garnered international recognition and awards.

The show is perfect for families and folks of all ages. It is fun and educational, culminating with a rousing come-all-ye jug-band jam, according to the release.

Waring is founder and owner of Waring Music. He is an ethnomusicologist, educator, author, instrument maker, collector, performer, and arts consultant. He teaches World Music, American Music, and Music Education courses on the university level, and is involved in public education in primary, middle, and high schools.
