GUILFORD — Citing personal reasons, Guilford Selectboard Chair Anne Rider stepped down from her post at the end of the Oct. 26 board meeting.
“[G]iven the busyness of the upcoming budget season and our transition in terms of town administrator, it seemed to me that it would be better for the town to have someone in the chair role, who could be 'boots on the ground,'” Rider said in an email to The Commons.
Rider will remain on the Selectboard until her term ends on March 1, at Town Meeting Day.
“I'm not seeking re-election so it made sense to me, given all those variables, to step aside at this point,” she added in the email.
At the Oct. 26 meeting, board member Gabrielle Cuifredda nominated Sheila Morse to assume the role of chair. Rider seconded the motion and the board unanimously voted in favor. Morse accepted the nomination and expressed her gratitude and appreciation for Rider's service.
“I am very confident that Sheila will be an excellent board chair,” said Rider in the email.
