DPW to begin street paving projects

BRATTLEBORO - Milling on three streets here begins Thursday, Aug. 14, starting with Fairground Road.

Motorists can expect alternating one-way traffic with delays and should seek alternate routes. Crews will move on to mill Chapin and Grove streets.

Crews plan to allow traffic in one direction only from Oak Street to Linden while work takes place. Traffic aiming to enter Chapin from Linden will be directed down Linden. When work gets to Grove Street, access to Grove is from Oak Street only. After the milling operation, motorists can expect a rough road surface with structures sticking up. Drive carefully.

This work is contracted to Lane Construction Corp., which plans to finish all three streets by Thursday. Work continues on these streets on Friday, with cleanup along curb lines and around structures in preparation for resurfacing, planned for Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 18 and 19, weather permitting.

Also due for cleanup then: a section of Cotton Mill Hill and a section of Guilford Street near Maple, and Birge Street. In all cases motorists can expect delays and alternating traffic.
