I am so proud of my hometown and Vermont, along with the other states that are actively pursuing the issue of leaving animals in hot cars.
As an animal-cruelty investigator and volunteer rescue worker, I see way too many things - more than others care to see and, unfortunately, care to hear about.
We are fortunate to have one Southern state now that has passed legislation making it legal to break into a car to get an animal in distress without any legal recourse or consequences. We are certainly encouraging all states to do the same.
Personally, I carry a brick and will use it if necessary.
The signs look great....we encourage people on public forums like Facebook to constantly post reminders - or anything that will keep a pet from dying.
Carry on. Vermont has always been a leader.
