WESTMINSTER — The Bellows Falls Union High School Drama Club presents “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” at the school auditorium Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m., and at a matinee Saturday, March 15 at 2 p.m. and that night at 7.
This musical was inspired by the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart.
The story follows a slave, Pseudolus, as he works to win his freedom by helping his young master woo the girl next door. The title derives from the line that vaudeville comedians often used to hook an audience: “A funny thing happened on the way to the theater."
