ROCKINGHAM — Thank you, Elayne Clift, for your description of our library as community learning center and valuable cornerstone of our town [“What happens when a library loses its spirit?,” Column, Sept. 25].
Libraries are one of the very few places in our society where everyone is welcomed and treated equally. One of our tasks as community members is to support the work of public libraries and the people who dedicate their professional lives to serving their communities through these institutions.
It is my hope that the voices of the people will be heard in Rockingham and effect the changes needed to move forward.
I am saddened and dismayed by the actions of a few board members to create such division and discord. I would like to thank all of the library staff, volunteers and friends for their continued hard work, professionalism, and generous hospitality under extreme circumstances.
