BRATTLEBORO — The Selectboard is set to interview a field of four candidates, and from among them appoint a replacement for outgoing member Ken Schneck, in two special board meetings on June 20.
The four met a deadline to submit letters of intent for consideration to serve the remainder of Schneck's three-year Selectboard term.
They are Donna Macomber, co-executive director of the Women's Freedom Center; Ian Kiehle, a local filmmaker; Michael Bosworth, president of the West Brattleboro Association; and Steve Cormier, station manager of radio station WTSA.
The board will interview them at a special Selectboard meeting in the Selectboard Meeting Room in the Municipal Center on Thursday, June 20, at 5 p.m. Public comment is sought.
Following the interviews, at 6:30 p.m., the board will hold a separate special meeting to appoint the new board member. That meeting, too, is open to public comment.
As detailed in a Selectboard press release, the town charter authorizes members to appoint a replacement when a board member steps down, as Schneck has done effective June 19. He is leaving to take a job in Cleveland, Ohio.
Kiehle had considered withdrawing his name over schedule conflicts. In a June 17 email, however, he reconfirmed his candidacy.
“I've decided that I can balance town service with my other plans and obligations,” he wrote.
