BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Area Jewish Community (BAJC), 151 Greenleaf St., has scheduled several events in association with the season of Passover, which begins on Monday evening, April 18, and ends Tuesday evening, April 26.
• Teaching Seder for interfaith middle-school-aged children at BAJC. Friday, April 15, 6 p.m. The seder will be led primarily by BAJC Hebrew school students, with assistance from Rabbi Heyn. Members of several local churches will be sending their middle-school-aged children to learn from our students about Passover, its stories, rituals and traditions.
• Shabbat morning aervice for Shabbat HaGadol, a special Sabbath observance preceding Passover, Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m.
• Seder matching, Monday, April 18, and Tuesday, April 19. Have space at your seder table? Looking for a seder to attend? As in past years, BAJC will help connect people who are holding seders with those looking for a seder to attend. We make matches based on the kind of seder you are looking for or holding.
This is a time to disavow shyness about asking or offering, since it is a mitzvah to welcome the stranger at Pesach. To offer space at your table or look for a seder to attend, call 802-387-2607, or fill out the form at www.bajcvermont.org. (click on the photo of the seder table).
• Torah study with Marty Cohn, Wednesday, April 2o, 7 p.m. Study for Chol Ha-mo'ed Pesach (the intermediate days of Passover) focusing on Exodus 13:1-16 and Numbers 28:19-25.
• Kabbalat Shabbat service, Friday, April 22, 7 p.m. A celebration both Passover and Earth Day, with music from the Song of Songs.
• Yizkor (memorial) service, Monday, April 25, 6 p.m. Customary for the concluding days of the three Festivals (Passover, Shavuot, and Sukkot).
