Chamber Series celebrates Beethoven

BRATTLEBORO-The Brattleboro Music Center (BMC) Chamber Series spotlights works by Beethoven.

"A Beethoven Celebration" featuring Joseph Lin and friends is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at 7 p.m. at the BMC.

The program will include string quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 95, "Serioso"; violin sonata No. 10 in G major, Op. 96; and piano trio in B-flat major, Op. 97, "Archduke."

"From prayerful meditation and delicate lyricism to passionate outbursts and playful exuberance, Beethoven's three consecutive masterpieces offer a rich and fascinating musical journey that captures a time of transition in Beethoven's life," say organizers.

For this program, Lin is joined by his dear friends Helen Huang (piano), Raman Ramakrishnan (cello), Claire Bourg (violin), and Natalie Loughran (viola).

Lin appears regularly throughout the U.S., Asia, and Europe. His recent projects include a collaboration on period instruments with Robert Levin, featuring works by Beethoven and Schubert; performances of Bartók's Second Violin Concerto and Beethoven's late string quartets; and, with Helen Huang at Juilliard, the complete Beethoven violin sonatas.

Marking the 300th year of Bach's violin sonatas and partitas in 2020, Lin presented complete cycles in Boston and Philadelphia.

Tickets are $30 general admission and are available on the Brattleboro Music Center website - bmcvt.org - by calling 802-257-4523, or emailing [email protected].
