Putney Library exhibits watercolors by Teresa Zuverino

PUTNEY-An exhibition of paintings, "Meadow Serenade in Watercolors," by Teresa Zuverino is on view at the Putney Public Library, 55 Main St., through May 30.

Images of familiar flowers "emerge and dissolve into color - is that a narcissus or a sunburst, and is that one an orchid?" ask organizers. In an homage to the coming of spring, these paintings "seek TO transform the library space into an airy and joy-filled environment," they say.

As a watercolorist, Zuverino investigates the convergence of water, light, and pigment. "My work is rooted in an exploration of the intrinsic beauty and fluidity of water, nature, and color," she said in a news release. "Water, with its boundless capacity for transformation and translucency, serves as both my medium and my guide."

She said her aim ultimately "is to invite viewers into a tranquil space where they can experience a moment of restoration and connection with the simple, yet profound, beauty of our natural world." Through the lens of watercolor, she continued, viewers "can see themselves as having many layers yet remaining transparent."

While Zuverino describes herself as an amateur watercolorist and is predominately self-taught, she joined Jean Haine's Online Watercolor School to further her understanding and experimentation in watercolor.

As a private practice psychotherapist, she said, she is drawn to the alchemy of water and color for their healing qualities of fluidity, spontaneity, and intuition. Zuverino lives with her family in Westminster West in a light-filled house she and her husband built.
