VERNON-Hi, my name is Heidi Johnson-Clement, and this is why I am excited to be running for town clerk. I have lived in Vernon for 18 years since my husband and our two boys moved into my grandparents' home. My mother attended the schoolhouse right down the road!
I have worked alongside our current town clerk, Tim Arsenault, for the last year and half, and I have been inspired by Tim's knowledge of the town and the care he's shown to the people of Vernon. Prior to this, I worked for Northeast Home Loan, a mortgage company, and therefore I have experience with mortgage deeds and property tax transfers.
I have always been the type of person who puts others first and helps others if it's within my power. Being town clerk would allow me to do just that for the residents of Vernon every day.
I want to create a welcoming and informative environment, creating a sense of belonging and togetherness regardless of differences - a space where people feel comfortable coming in to ask questions and to express concerns.
As town clerk, I would make sure our residents felt comfortable coming by to find any resources and guidance on local issues. If you'd like to stop by and just say hello, I'd love that, too!
When I think of community, I think of everyone working together and supporting each other. I would love the opportunity to grow and serve our community.
