Lack of Route 5 snow removal endangers pedestrians

PUTNEY-The state is behind on its responsibility to pedestrians in Brattleboro and perhaps elsewhere.

Three days after a significant, but not overwhelming, snowfall, there is still nowhere to walk except in the roadway. Sidewalks and crosswalks remain uncleared.

Many people are walking between snow banks and traffic. Those on foot are in danger but they need to go to work or grocery stores.

I have seen this problem for many years. What is the state's plan to assure safe pedestrian movement much sooner after a snow event?
