VERNON-I enthusiastically endorse Ian Hefele for Vernon town clerk because he has the qualifications, experience, and skills needed to do the job.
First and foremost, a town clerk should be client-oriented and resourceful as well as a problem solver and able to patiently guide people through challenging situations. During the past 15 years, Ian has honed these skills in his work at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, at Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, and at the ECDC Multicultural Community Center in Brattleboro, where he is community engagement manager.
A town clerk should also be knowledgeable about the town, having participated in community events such as Town Meeting. Ian has served two terms as a justice of the peace and as an active member of the Parent-Teacher Council at Vernon Elementary School, he has been a trustee of the Vernon Free Library, and he has frequently been a poll worker on voting days.
I have known Ian for more than 12 years and am thrilled that he is running to be Vernon's next town clerk; he will be an excellent one. Please join me in voting for him on Tuesday, March 4.
