GUILFORD-Betsy Thomason clearly shows that she has no idea what book banning is.
In her letter, Betsy claims that as the former owner of Everyone's Books, I refused to display books by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and refused to order them if requested, and when we held an event to discuss book banning, she accused us of being book banners. These statements are untrue for three reasons:
1. We did special-order single copies of the book, which was full of lies and innuendo about the crimes of Anthony Fauci.
2. What we refused to do was either stock the book, because of the above, or order the large bulk order that one organization in Windham requested. I didn't feel I wanted to increase sales of this book that I consider pretty offensive.
3. This is not book banning. Book banning is when a part of the government, an institution with power, disallows a book from being read in a school or a library.
Everyone's Books does not have an army, a police force, or any ability to make anything illegal. Bookstores curate their collections just like any store. Owners and buyers do what they think is right for their community.
