BRATTLEBORO-Petitions for town officers, Windham Southeast School District (WSESD) Board members, and Representative Town Meeting members for the 2025 election are now available at the town clerk's office.
• Town elections will take place Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at American Legion Post 5, 32 Linden St.
• Annual Representative Town Meeting will begin on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. in the Brattleboro Union High School gymnasium.
• The WSESD Annual Meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 18.
Petitions are due Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at 5 p.m. at the Town Clerk's Office for all positions.
• Candidates for town officers and WSESD board members must gather a petition of at least 30 valid signatures of registered Brattleboro voters and file it in the clerk's office for the candidate's name to appear on the ballot.
• Candidates for Town Meeting member must file a nomination petition, issued by the Town Clerk's Office, with at least 10 valid signatures of voters from the district where the candidate lives.
• Incumbent members will be mailed a Notice of Intent form in early January and must return it by the deadline.
Town officers to be elected:
• Moderator (one-year term, currently held by David Gartenstein)
• Lister (three-year term, currently held by Heidi Fischer);
• Selectboard (three-year term, currently held by Daniel Quipp, and two one-year terms, currently held by Richard Davis and Franz Reichsman)
• First constable (one-year term, currently held by Richard H. Cooke)
• Second constable (one-year term, currently held by Gary Corey)
• Trustee of Public Funds (three-year term, currently held by Pamela Matweecha)
• Unified School Director (three-year term, currently held by Matt Schibley)
The last day to file a petition requesting that an article be placed on the warning for Annual Town Meeting and Unified School District Annual District Meeting is Thursday, Jan. 16, at 5 p.m., 47 days prior to the election. Approximately 469 (5%) signatures of registered Brattleboro voters are required.
The warnings for Town Meeting and Unified School District Annual District Meeting must be posted no later than Sunday, Feb. 2, or 30 days before the election.
Early ballots will be available beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Voters may request early ballots until Monday, March 3, at 5 p.m.
The annual Representative Town Meeting informational session and district caucuses are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, March 12.
