Victimizing a merchant over poorly chosen words

BRATTLEBORO-The headline made me curious enough to read this one person's opinion of a local merchant. In the end I am questioning why this was found to be worthy of actually printing.

The writer seems to feel like they were singled out to be victimized, in part because of being female. Surely, things probably could have been handled better.

It hasn't been all that long ago when we had to adorn facial coverings just to get through the door to any establishment. At that point in time you would get the third degree just to get to the emergency room at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Even today a day doesn't go by where I don't see a few people in public areas wearing masks to protect themselves.

Covid is still going around today. One of the many symptoms is a persistent cough. This is true with the flu as well. When people are sick they should stay out of public areas, except for medical treatment areas.

The writer doesn't seem to take into consideration the merchant's fears of becoming ill. The merchant has no knowledge of the writer's health or medical history, with their persistent cough issue.

Yes, things could have been handled differently between both parties. I just don't see why this is worthy of printing, to more or less victimize a longtime merchant over some poorly chosen words. I guess if the shoe fits.
