WNESU School Board seeks feedback on Superintendent

WESTMINSTER STATION - The Windham Northeast Supervisory Union (WNESU) School Board is asking for input on Superintendent Andrew Haas. To do this, they are conducting a short online survey.

Students, teachers, parents, community members, and WNESU staff are all invited to share their thoughts. The survey asks about topics such as the superintendent's leadership and vision for the district, their work in creating a positive learning environment for students, and how they encourage families and the community to get involved.

All responses are anonymous, and the survey is open until Monday, Dec. 16. Take the survey at wnesu.org/supersurvey2024.

Winston Prouty holds Bingo Night fundraiser

BRATTLEBORO - The Winston Prouty Center for Child and Family Development invites the community to a Bingo Night fundraiser on Friday, Dec. 13. Doors open at 5 p.m., and games begin at 6 p.m. The event will be held in Thomas Hall on the Winston Prouty Campus, 209 Austine Drive.

The $25 entry fee includes a booklet with three Bingo cards for all 13 rounds. Additional sets of cards can be purchased for $5. Bingo daubers will be available. Players can expect Bingo classics like 4 corners, Crazy T, postage stamps, picnic table, and cover-all.

Cash prizes total $400 and there will be a set of games that award gift cards to local stores and restaurants. There will also be a light dinner, snacks, and a cash bar. Proceeds support the nonprofit organization's mission to provide inclusive education and family support to promote the success of children and families. River Singers presents its Winter Concert on Dec. 14, 15

WESTMINSTER WEST - The River Singers, led by Mary Cay Brass, invite everyone to share in a lively, soulful concert of songs celebrating joy, love, and peace on Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m. at the Westminster West Church.

The choir, now in its 34th year, is devoted to singing songs of great diversity from many cultures. The December concert focuses on songs celebrating the seasons from England, South Africa, Croatia, Bosnia, Republic of Georgia, African American gospel and more.

The concert will benefit the Village Harmony camp scholarship fund as well as local aid helping New Americans. Admission is $15–$25, cash or check at the door only. For more information, email [email protected] or visit marycaybrass.com.

Photogenic pets wanted for 'Santa selfies'

BRATTLEBORO - Windham County Humane Society (WCHS), 916 West River Rd. (Route 30), will host "Photos With Santa" on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Bring your pet, pose with Santa, and snap a photo. Advance registration is not required; the event is free, but donations are encouraged. All dogs must be on a leash, and cats and other pets must be in proper carriers.

Dummerston Historical Society hosts open house

DUMMERSTON - All are invited to visit the Dummerston Historical Society Schoolhouse during their open house on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. This is the last chance to view current exhibits and the Artist's Corner, featuring paintings and books by Dummerston resident Connie Evans.

They welcome visitors to stop in, view exhibits, ask questions, share information, do some research or just say hello. Current exhibits coming down after this day's open house include farming implements from earlier days, all loaned by local farmers, photos, and history of Elysian Hills Farm, photos which they need help identifying, and a lovely painting showing the history of collecting maple syrup.

In addition, new Dummerston Covered Bridge hats and T-shirts are available, as is the new 2025 Scenes of Dummerston calendar. For more information, email [email protected].

Food distribution in Putney

PUTNEY - The Vermont Foodbank and the Putney Foodshelf co-sponsor a monthly food drop of free produce and some nonperishables, usually on the fourth Thursday of every month from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Alice Holway Drive (in front of Putney Meadows, the white building across from the Putney Co-op and the Putney Fire Station.)

All are welcome. This is a drive-up service, bags are provided. Due to Christmas, the next monthly food drop will be on Thursday, Dec. 19.

Guilford accepting photo submissions for 2025 Town Report

GUILFORD - The Guilford Town Office is officially accepting photo submissions for the 2025 Town Report until Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. Photos must be taken within the town of Guilford. One photo will be featured on the cover of the annual report and other photos chosen will be featured throughout the inside of the annual report.

To apply, go to bit.ly/794-photo for a photo submission form. There, entrants will answer a few questions about themselves and a few questions about the photo they submitted. There is no limit to how many photos one person may submit, but they must fill out a form for each photo.

Brattleboro Senior Meals needs drivers

BRATTLEBORO - Brattleboro Senior Meals program is in "desperate need" of Meals on Wheels drivers.
