Amy’s Bakery Arts Café hosts Brattleboro-West Arts group exhibit

BRATTLEBORO-On view at Amy's Bakery Arts Café at 113 Main St. through late winter is a group exhibit of artwork by members of Brattleboro-West Arts (BWA). Included are paintings, encaustics, pastels, and fiber work by Kay Curtis, Cyndi Ferrante, Steve Lloyd, Sharon Myers, Walter Slowinski, Jen Wiechers and Jessica Weitz.

Brattleboro-West Arts was founded in 2009 by neighbors who recognized the vibrant creative community that exists in the watershed of the Whetstone Brook west of downtown Brattleboro.

Since then, membership has grown to include nearly three dozen professional artists and craftspeople, including those shown in this exhibit. Many members gather each month to share a meal and explore ways to enrich the artistic life of southern Vermont.

To that end, many in BWA share their knowledge with the public and fellow artists by teaching classes, leading workshops, or taking on apprentices.

However, the most accessible path to appreciating fine art is simply to view it firsthand. "So please enjoy this sample of works by our members," they say in a news release, "and join us in thanking Amy's Bakery for making it possible."

Although not all BWA members are participating in this exhibit, many are available by appointment to welcome visitors to their studios year-round. In addition to selling their work directly, many members also regularly exhibit individually in area art shows, galleries, and the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center, as well in BWA group shows.
