The Nature Museum hosts Future Climate Film Festival

BELLOWS FALLS-The Future Climate Film Festival, produced by Merlyn Climate Grants and hosted by The Nature Museum, invites the community to an afternoon celebrating the powerful voices of national and international artists.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 5 p.m., the Bellows Falls Opera House will host this event, showcasing 10 films from four continents.

"Drama, documentary, comedy, and award-winning animation address our many possible climate futures," museum staff wrote in a news release. "The films explore the multifaceted emotions surrounding climate change, including hope and cynicism, denial and grief, rage and heartbreak, resilience and resolve. Attendees will experience a rich tapestry of storytelling that resonates with current feelings, while also discovering paths toward climate empowerment."

The festival will kick off with a videotaped introduction from America's leading voice on climate change, Bill McKibben - co-founder of 350.org and Third Act. As the honorary judge for the event, McKibben emphasizes the films' emotional depth, stating, "These movies hit us viscerally."

Nature Museum Education Director Jay DeGregorio expressed the significance of the festival. "We're honored and excited to host such an impactful and high-quality event for our southern Vermont community. In the face of climate change, having hope is a must, but it's becoming ever more needed to inspire and sustain action. These films highlight and share passion, action, and reflection from our national and international neighbors. We hope this is an opportunity for folks to learn more, reflect, and consider how they can respond. Acting locally and regionally is crucial to our collective global effort. We can only do this together!"

In addition to the film screenings, attendees will have access to various resources aimed at fostering local action to combat and prepare for climate change. This is an opportunity not only to watch compelling films but also to engage with the community and explore actionable solutions.

Admission is free and donations are encouraged. Pre-registration is requested but walk-ups are welcome. Register at nature-musuem.org. Learn more about the Future Climate Film Festival at The Nature Museum's website, nature-musuem.org.
