Vermont Theatre Company hosts auditions for its fall One Act Plays

BRATTLEBORO-Vermont Theatre Company will be hosting auditions on Monday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m., in the Community Meeting room on the second floor of the Brooks Memorial Library on Main Street.

Auditions will be held for four one-act plays. The shows include In the Shadow of the Glen, by J.M. Synge; 11:11, by James Perry; Emotional Baggage, by Lindsay Price; and Rappaccini's Daughter, an adaptation of the Nathaniel Hawthorne story by Dante Mauriello. Directors are Jesse Tidd, Kay Becker, Dante Mauriello, and Casey Parles.

All actors will audition for all directors at once. The One Act Plays will be performed the weekend of Nov. 21–24. Rehearsals will begin the week of Oct. 14.

The four plays call for a total of 18 adult actors. There are also creative opportunities available including costumes, set building, lighting, prop creation, and sound.

"Vermont Theatre Company is dedicated to providing various opportunities to participate in theatre that require various levels of commitment, so that anyone who dreams of taking the stage can do so," Jessica Callahan Gelter, artistic director and producer of VTC's weekend of One Act Plays, said in a news release. "The One Acts are a month-long commitment, and will be a ton of fun!"

This will be a group audition. Participants should expect to arrive at 6 p.m., fill out audition forms with contact information, then play some collaborative theater games. Actors will also be asked to read from short scenes with other auditioners. Participants should expect to stay until 7:30 p.m.
