Claudia Williams, a gracious and wonderful person

BRATTLEBORO-Thank you for including the item on Claudia Williams ["Farewell, Claudia," Sports Roundup, July 17]. I was saddened when I heard of her passing last December. I had heard from a friend that its mention was kept from the public, and I respected her family's privacy.

I met Claudia Williams at a book signing in 2022 for her memoir Ted Williams, My Father. She was a gracious and wonderful person. The book was remarkable - one of the best memoirs I've ever read.

What she and her late brother had to endure growing up under the spotlight of being Ted Williams' children is a cautionary tale of celebrity adoration in American culture.

Thank you for remembering her.
