BRATTLEBORO — River Gallery School of Art (RGS) has begun the search for a new executive director.
The former executive director, Mary Lou Forward, announced in April she would depart the organization. In a news release, the board of directors said that they and the greater RGS community “wish to thank Forward for her positive impact at the school.”
“A committee of the Board of Trustees is enacting a process of interviewing interested candidates and preparing written materials that describe the vision and mission of the school as well as the actual process of daily classes and collaborative work. They find this process to be interesting and exciting” said Judy Freed, president of the trustees.
She added, “putting words to paper about the ways RGS joins and enhances our community is valuable for all.”
Until a new executive director is named, Donna Hawes will be acting director and lead the organization. Hawes has worked for RGS for nearly 20 years and has served in several executive positions during her tenure.
The executive director will oversee the strategic and operational objectives, programming, staffing, and fundraising for the school. Anyone interested in the position can contact [email protected] with inquiries regarding this opportunity. The job posting and full description is available at rivergalleryschool.org.
