BRATTLEBORO — Building a Better Brattleboro (BaBB) will hold its 11th annual meeting of its members and community stakeholders on Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Robert H. Gibson River Garden at 157 Main St., beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be provided beginning at 8 a.m., thanks to the Brattleboro Food Coop.
Once again this year, the board will ask for public input into where downtown stakeholders would like to see us focus our efforts in next year's work plans beginning July 1, 2011.
Following the meeting, BaBB committees will convene to develop work plans to achieve goals identified through input gathered at the annual meeting. The committee plans will then be approved by the BaBB board and submitted to the Selectboard prior to Jan. 1, along with a related budget figure to be raised through a special assessment tax on downtown commercial properties.
There will be an opportunity for interested parties to volunteer for committees or projects of interest.
The meeting agenda will include the election of new members to the Board of Directors. Nominations are welcomed from the floor by current members of the organization.
BaBB Executive Director Andrea Livermore will give a brief update on the current year's activities and successes. Board President Gail Nunziata will reflect on BaBB's recent activities and share her thoughts on the organization's future. Committee Chairs will share the past year's accomplishments of their respective committees.
The Larry Cooke Memorial Service Award will be presented to an individual whose outstanding volunteer work has helped to further the realization of BaBB's goals and objectives. It is the tradition of the organization to present this award annually in memory of the late Larry Cooke who left a legacy of community service and was a BaBB director and a great friend to the downtown and to the organization.
BABB's mission is to support and nurture the commercial, cultural, residential and professional environment of the Town of Brattleboro with a primary emphasis on downtown revitalization. BaBB's vision is a vibrant downtown that thrives socially, economically and culturally.
